Award-winning national pet retailer Just for Pets has secured a second site for its new dog-focused retail brand DOG by Just for Pets (DOG).

Advised by Carter Jonas’ retail team, Just for Pets launched its first DOG store in June 2023 at 3-4 Brewery Court in Cirencester. The retailer has opened its second DOG in the historic Cotswold town of Stow-on-the-Wold, having agreed a 10-year lease for the ground floor of the former Barclays Bank site at £46,000 per annum. The space provides a large open-plan retail area comprising circa. 1,300 sq ft.

The Georgian revival building in the town’s iconic square sits between two Grade-II listed properties and is surrounded by a diverse mix of local businesses and well-known brands.

DOG stores focus on dog health and wellbeing and provide high-end products from brands such as Barbour, Le Chameau, Oxfordshire-based Cocopup and George Barclay beds, as well as the chain’s popular packaging-free natural treats section and high meat foods.

Team members are trained by Hannah Molloy of Channel 4’s Puppy School in puppy socialisation, nutrition and force-free harness fittings, allowing them to provide excellent customer and the latest advice.

The retailer is now looking for locations for five new DOG stores, alongside its search for larger premises to accommodate several more Just for Pets sites. Carter Jonas is leading the search for suitable retail units of 2,500 – 6,500 sq ft in areas such as Bath, Cheltenham, Hereford and Stroud. Car parking is essential, and the focus is directed to roadside and edge-of-town properties and retail park locations.

Stuart Williams, Partner, Commercial, Carter Jonas said: “It is always impressive to see businesses recognise opportunities in the market, and the opening of a second Just for Pets store, which focuses on premium dog products, demonstrates its commitment to providing a variety of high-quality and different options for pets and their owners.

This new location in the historic market town of Stow is an ideal spot for DOG. It is situated in a fantastic position with high footfall, a bustling local community, and a great retail scene. Stow also benefits from several boutique hotels and is in proximity to other sought-after destinations such as Soho Farmhouse and Daylesford Organic. This drives many weekend visitors to the town.

I look forward to working with the team on their expansion plans over the next 12 months and liaising with landlords to find the best spaces to accommodate both brands.”
