Trafford Centre introduces new onsite police team, in partnership with Greater Manchester Police

Trafford Centre is to introduce an onsite neighbourhood police team, dedicated to enhancing the security of the centre and create a safer shopping experience for visitors.

In partnership with Greater Manchester Police, the new initiative will be fully funded by the Trafford Centre for the next three years and will provide a continued and highly visible presence to reassure people who work and visit the centre.

The full-time team will consist of one inspector, one sergeant and six PCs, with the full team in place by January 2024.

Simon Layton, Centre Director at Trafford Centre, said: “The introduction of a full onsite police team reflects our commitment to providing a secure and welcoming environment for our visitors and retailers, whilst strengthening our ongoing relationship with Greater Manchester Police.”

Inspector Paul Ellis, who will lead the new GMP Trafford Centre Policing Team, added: “This is a unique collaboration with one of the most iconic venues in Greater Manchester and reinforces our commitment on continuing to keep the public safe by providing a dedicated high-visibility resource.”
