One Stop has launched a brand-new, fundraising and educational initiative supporting UK food redistribution charity FareShare, in partnership with Louis Kennedy – the agency behind Partnerships with Purpose.
Targeted at families and the younger generation of customers at One Stop stores, The Fruities & Veggies™ project has been developed to create more awareness around healthier eating habits and the specific benefits of eating a variety of fruit and vegetables.
“When Louis Kennedy approached us about their Fruities & Veggies™ brand, we were thrilled and knew it was a project that we wanted to get involved in. As a business, we’ve been working hard over the years to promote our top-quality fresh food and with The Fruities & Veggies™, we’re able to not only reiterate to customers that they can get their fresh fruit and veg from us, but also educate them about the nutritional benefits certain fruit and vegetables provide!” commented Jack Taylor, Community and Partnerships Manager at One Stop stores.
Customers can now find characters ‘Arthur Apple’, ‘Pete Potato’, ‘Patricia Pear’, ‘Lotty Lettuce’, ‘Tia Tomato’ and ‘Betty Beetroot’ on a range of point of sale across the majority of One Stop’s estate.
Customers will be able to purchase The Fruities & Veggies™ characters on a range of keyrings for £2.50 – with 45p for every keyring sold being donated to FareShare.
One Stop has also created an interactive online space for the campaign.
“We were keen to bring The Fruities & Veggies™ to life online as well. Customers can scan the QR code from our in-store POS or on the tag of every character keyring, which will take them to The Fruities & Veggies™ universe. There they can learn about each of the characters through a range of fun and informative tools.” said Jack.
As well as this, the convenience retailer is providing customers with opportunities to win brilliant prizes through playing educational games during the 6-week campaign period. Customers just need to click here.
One Stop have worked together with London-based agency, Louis Kennedy who facilitate partnerships between brands and charities, using IP to deliver real social good. The agency is particularly known for their work with Comic Relief (Red Nose Day) and BBC Children in Need (Pudsey Bear). As well as creating the fantastic Fruities & Veggies™ range to support One Stop and FareShare, the agency has raised over £250m for good causes over the last 30 years.
“The Fruities and Veggies™ characters educate and inspire children and families alike on the wider benefits of healthy eating and how doing so affects all our physical/mental health and overall wellbeing. Developed over time with One Stop, I’m delighted to see them truly come to life both in-store with some wonderful collectibles and also in partnership with 2Simple and supporting FareShare.
Together we have created a multifaceted engaging, educational, entertaining and inspiring campaign for the greater good of our nation while delivering significant social good and awareness through the process,” said Grant Morgan, Founder and CEO Louis Kennedy.
One Stop is committed to serving its customers, communities and planet a little better every day. As part of this commitment, the convenience retailer has partnered with FareShare, the UK’s leading food redistribution charity, since 2021. FareShare works with the food industry to redistribute good-to-eat surplus food to over 8,000 charities across the UK. Thes include schools, homelessness shelters, community centres, hospices and refuges, all working to provide essential support services. Every £1 raised through The Fruities & Veggies™ campaign will enable FareShare to deliver the equivalent of five meals, strengthening communities across the country.
Kirsty Ford, Head of Fundraising at FareShare said: “We are so grateful to everyone at One Stop for supporting the Fruities & Veggies™ campaign. The donations made to FareShare from this initiative will help us get good-to-eat food, which might otherwise go to waste, to people who need it. Fresh fruit and vegetables make up a huge part of the food redistributed by FareShare every year, helping ensure that people in need have access to healthier, more nutritious diets.
By purchasing these keyrings, shoppers can help people affected by the cost-of-living crisis come together through food and access essential support services. One Stop’s ongoing generous support for FareShare makes a huge difference in helping us make the food go further.” In 2023, One Stop’s fundraising efforts helped FareShare to deliver the equivalent of more than half a million meals back to local communities across the UK.
