Grosvenor Square in Mayfair and Chavasse Park at retail and entertainment destination Liverpool ONE have launched two of the UK’s ten official Team GB Fanzones.

Getting into the Olympic spirit, both locations will offer sports fans free to access giant screens surrounded by food and drink stalls and the chance meet Olympians and the official Team GB mascot, Pride the Lion.

On the weekend of 3rd and 4th August, the Team GB Fanzone in Grosvenor Square will also host a range of family-friendly activities, including a mini-Olympics, face painting, arts and crafts, and more.

Visitors can meet former members of Team GB with 2016 Rio hockey hero Shona McCallin visiting Grosvenor Square on 3 August and Olympic, World and European Championship medal winning gymnast Daniel Purvis visiting Liverpool ONE on 9 August. Both Fanzones will also welcome the official Team GB mascot, firstly at Liverpool ONE on 1 August, followed by Mayfair on 2nd August.

Liverpool ONE, which attracts more than 22 million visitors every year, will also be an official Team GB Fanzone for the Paralympic Games, with fans able to enjoy the world’s leading athletes competing until 8 September. In London, the Paralympics will be screened by Grosvenor in Eccleston Yards, Belgravia.

Both locations have screened some of the country’s biggest moments in recent years, driving strong performance for businesses in Grosvenor’s neighbourhoods. Last year’s Coronation Garden Party at Grosvenor Square saw retail turnover increase by +41 percent and food and beverage businesses saw a +33 percent rise in revenues across Mayfair compared to the previous year.

Under Grosvenor’s management, Liverpool ONE was the backdrop for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, held in the city on behalf of Ukraine. Events across the destination contributed to an additional spend of £19.9 million at Liverpool ONE compared with the same period in 2022, a rise of 23 percent.

The Team GB Fanzone at Grosvenor Square will be one of the final events held on London’s second largest garden square before it undergoes a major transformation, with Grosvenor set to create an extraordinary biodiverse urban garden, with ground-breaking environmental credentials, play spaces, and a 500 percent increase in planting and wetlands.

James Raynor, Chief Executive, Grosvenor Property UK said: “It’s a unique and exciting opportunity to have Grosvenor Square and Liverpool ONE share the podium as official Team GB Fanzones. We hope that as many people as possible will join us to cheer on our Olympians and Paralympians.

We are proud of our track record of successful activations across London and Liverpool. Our regular programme of events and community activities, as well as these standout moments, are a vital part of creating the vibrant places for residents, visitors and businesses.”
