Co-op has served-up a new, improved and larger store to serve and support the community of Maybole, Ayrshire.

The new 5,000 sq ft store is more than 2,000 sq ft larger than the retailer’s existing store in the town which relocated to the new Kirkoswald Road location.

Supporting 20 local jobs, and opening between 6am-10pm daily, the new store includes customer car parking; a free ATM to provide access to cash in the community, in-store bakery, hot food and, a Costa coffee dispenser. With Amazon Lockers available for convenient parcel collection. This is in addition to an enhanced and increased focus and range of fresh, healthy products; meal ideas; everyday essentials; hot food; food-to-go; Fairtrade products, flowers, chilled beers and award winning wines; ready meals, pizzas and, free-from; vegan and plant-based products – including Co-op’s exclusive vegan range, GRO.

A funding boost is provided locally through Co-op’s Membership programme – local community groups and charities are currently invited to apply to receive funding and support from Co-op’s Local Community Fund, with applications open up until 11 June for organisations to be considered for the next round of funding, community groups interested in applying to Co-op’s Local Community Fund, should visit https://causes.coop.co.uk/

Membership of Co-op unlocks additional value through in-store exclusive Member offers and deals – in April ,Co-op launched new member price benefits within its food business to help its members save more. In addition, Members are rewarded with 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products which is added to their own personal Membership account balance, and Co-op also donates the same amount to local causes and, community organisations. So, Members can make a difference simply by shopping at Co-op.

Students who are TOTUM cardholders – the new name for NUS extra – and, Young Scot cardholders receive a 10 percent discount off groceries at Co-op.

A soft plastic recycle unit is also available in store to enable the community to recycle ‘soft plastics’ including: crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches. This means that all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable through either local authority kerbside collections, or its in-store soft plastic recycling unit.
