Heritage and lifestyle brand Barbour has partnered with Oxfam, the international poverty-fighting organisation at Glastonbury to launch for the very first time, a Barbour Re-Loved jacket rental initiative.

Taking place at this year’s Glastonbury Festival (Wednesday 26th June – Sunday 30th June), the Barbour Re-Loved rental service which consists of pre-loved jackets that have been upcycled, will be available through the Oxfam stores on the Festival site with all proceeds going to Oxfam. Attendees will be able to rent a Barbour Re-Loved men’s or women’s wax jacket at a cost of £45 per jacket for the full weekend rental. They then have the option to return their wax jackets at the end of the Festival – or if they’ve fallen in love with their jacket, to purchase it.

Every jacket for rent is pre-loved and has been cleaned, repaired and re-waxed by the Barbour team in South Shields in the North East of England, ready for the weekend. Each jacket is completely unique, with many featuring reused materials and fabrics from past Glastonbury Festival t-shirts and merchandise, to add colour and a touch of nostalgia to the inside of the jackets.

Re-Loved bucket hats, ideal to wear whether it’s rain or shine, will also be available to purchase at £39. All products will come with a very collectable Barbour Re-loved x Glastonbury 2024 pin badge and there will be a choice of sizes and styles.

Paul Wilkinson, Group Commercial Director/Deputy Group MD, Barbour said “We are delighted to be working with Oxfam at the Glastonbury Festival on this exciting initiative. A key part of circularity is to keep products in use longer, thereby reducing impact per wear and the need for new resources. We believe that this rental scheme provides a very affordable and accessible service, enabling customers to easily rent jackets at the Festival should the weather be inclement or they just need a coat for chilly evenings. With all proceeds going to Oxfam, it means that customers can rent their jackets knowing that they are supporting this very worthy charitable cause.”

Michael Lever, Oxfam’s Head of Festivals and Events, said: “We are so excited to be partnering with Barbour and Glastonbury on this brilliant, new initiative. Not only do the Re-Loved jackets look fantastic, but by recirculating clothes, we can help to reduce the

demand for new clothes and in turn, help to reduce the damage to our planet. All the money raised through the Barbour Re-Loved scheme at Glastonbury will go towards Oxfam’s crucial work to tackle poverty around the world – so festival goers can look and feel good at the same time.”

First introduced in 2019, Barbour Re-Loved is a circularity initiative to extend the life of Barbour wax jackets. When customers no longer have a need for their wax jacket, they can return to Barbour in exchange for a voucher. The Barbour customer services team will then arrange for the jacket to be cleaned, repaired and re-waxed ready to go to a new home and to continue the life of the jacket. Barbour Re-Loved is part of Wax for Life, the overarching name for all of Barbour’s wax services including re-waxing, repairs and customisation.
