2025 marks 55 years since Earth Day first began. The commemorated day started in the US in 1970 and has now spread globally, celebrated by millions of people across the world. It’s a chance to honour and celebrate the achievements of the environmental movement and highlight the need to protect the planet further.

To mark the occasion, Railston Mannequins have made their own important pledge in support of the need to reduce carbon emissions within the world of retail.

The team at Railston Mannequins has developed its own range of environmentally conscious mannequins, Evolve, which are protected by International Patents.

Alan Pegram, Business Development at Railston Mannequins, explains: “We believe that these are superior to most if not all of the ‘eco-friendly’ mannequins available today. Not only are our Evolve mannequins made from previously used rice or coffee sacks which themselves were made from plant fibres; they are manufactured with non-food vegetable-based bio resins which assist in our mannequins’ ability to bio-degrade at the end of their life; and we even provide every Evolve mannequin with its own data-bank, enabling our clients to have them repaired or renovated during their life and ensuring that they are disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.”

So, what is this pledge?

In a bid to make the retail industry more sustainable, Railston Mannequins has announced they are allowing their competitors and retailers to make their own mannequin designs using their Evolve technology under license.

Alan adds, “This will obviously need to be subject to contractual arrangements, but it will allow many more retail brands to benefit from this world leading innovation. We all need to work together to save our planet, and we hope this will help contribute to this very worthy cause.”
