•  To celebrate the launch of KitKat sharing bars, two iconic brands are joining together to bring back the nostalgic 90s video rental store
  • Open 9th – 12th April 2025 in London’s Soho, visitors will be treated to a movie streaming code along with a new KitKat sharing bar to enjoy and share together
  • KitKat is on a mission to help the nation ‘Break Better’ and wants the partnership to help people properly switch off and relax together in the evening

Remember the days of browsing Blockbuster for that perfect Friday night flick? KitKatdoes. To celebrate its new sharing bars, the iconic British chocolate brand is bringing the magic back by re-opening Blockbuster, for a limited time only!

From 9th to 12th April, Brits are being encouraged to step away from their everyday life and rewind to a simpler time. Nearly a quarter of Brits (22 percent) fondly remember choosing movies in-store, so it is no surprise that Blockbuster was voted one of the top 5 most missed high-street stores by Brits*.

The KitKat x Blockbuster pop up is the ultimate nostalgic throwback. Step inside and visitors will be greeted with rows of iconic video cases and a comfy chill-out zone complete with retro televisions. After browsing the shelves, guests can choose a movie, take the empty VHS case to the counter and receive a free KitKat sharing bar and movie steaming code.

KitKat’s sharing bars combine the iconic crispy wafer with irresistible, creamy fillings to truly help the nation unwind and savour moments of togetherness. As the perfect movie night partner to enjoy whilst kicking back and relaxing together, these all-new sharing bars come in three flavours:

  • KitKat Double Chocolate: Featuring a cocoa-flavoured filling, covered with thick, milk & dark chocolate marbled swirls
  • KitKat Salted Caramel: A salted caramel-flavoured filling, covered with thick caramel flavour milk chocolate and marbled swirls
  • KitKat Hazelnut: A hazelnut-flavoured filling, covered with thick, milk & dark chocolate marbled swirls

The pop-up comes as KitKat sharing bars hit shelves and as the brand, already renowned for helping people ‘Have A Break’, sets itself a mission to help the nation ‘Break Better’. The legendary crispy wafer that has fuelled break times for generations is encouraging everyone to stop overstretching and start taking quality breaks instead.

New research from KitKat has demonstrated that stressed-out Brits are at breaking point over their inability to switch off, with a third (35 percent) blaming their phone. Whilst 3 in 10 say they feel uneasy and anxious if their phone is out of hands reach and almost three-quarters (73 percent) say it’s causing a rift in their relationship.

Available for walk-ins (subject to capacity), visitors will receive a coupon to redeem a film of their choice (T&Cs apply) on Rakuten valid for 28 days, along with a KitKat sharing bar to enjoy.

Stephanie Scales, Marketing Manager for KitKat at Nestlé UK & Ireland, said: “It’s more important than ever to stay connected with others in today’s hectic world. Whether it’s with friends, family or loved ones, we want to take the nation back to when times were simpler and reclaim the joy of picking out a movie to watch together. By KitKat sharing bars partnering with Blockbuster to take cosy nights in together to another level, we hope that we can help Brits properly savour their downtime and break better!”
