DTZ Investors has announced that Spider Box Manchester, a brand-new next generation social entertainment venue, is to make its debut at Printworks this September. Occupying 8,000 sq ft and serving as a differentiator alongside the Vue IMAX cinema and Europe’s largest digital ceiling, Spider Box is the latest addition to Printworks following completion of a £27m investment programme earlier this year to create a unique world of entertainment.

Spider Box will offer visitors live music, karaoke and immersive music quizzes, complemented by a comprehensive food and drink offer. Designed to cater for families, groups of friends, corporate parties and students, Spider Box will bring an exciting new big box attraction to the heart of Manchester, reinforcing Printworks’ position as the focal point for entertainment, socialising and leisure in the city.

Central to the experience will be the Spider Box performance area, which will feature a weekly line-up of live music, showcasing established and emerging artists from across the North West, live DJs and, in a first for the UK, a digital human DJ called Dex. Visitors will also be able to enjoy six state-of-the-art SIM racing simulators, allowing racers to compete on some of the best circuits in the world. The destinations is completed by a diverse food and drink offer providing multiple cuisines from Middle Eastern to European to Southeast Asia in a street food-style experience.

Rob Hetherington, CEO of Spider Entertainment, said:“We are thrilled to be bringing Spider Box Manchester to Printworks this September. We have considered multiple locations across the UK for our first Spider Box venue, and we are delighted to be opening the first in Manchester, a city rich with music, culture and entertainment. We believe we have an immersive entertainment offering like no other, and guests can expect an unforgettable day or night with each visit.”

Ben Haller, DTZ Investors, added: “The choice of Printworks for Spider Box’s debut site is a further endorsement of the scheme’s leading reputation within the UK leisure industry.  This follows our transformative digital refurbishment which now offers an unrivalled immersive environment for operators and consumers alike. We welcome Spider Box, who build on Printwork’s already strong mix of tenants who collectively offer an unmatched scale and range of uses within a single entertainment venue.”

Comprising 20 bars, restaurants and leisure experiences, including Europe’s largest digital ceiling, a Vue IMAX cinema and now Spider Box, Printworks has been transformed by a £27m investment programme.  The destination has seen a 15 percent jump in footfall in the first three months since it relaunched at the end of March this year, with daytime visitors a key element of the growth.

Metis Real Estate Advisors and Stärka acted for Printworks. Spider Box dealt direct.
