Independent bakery chain Cornish Bakery has continued its rapid expansion, opening a large new bakery in the capital city of Cornwall.  The company has also announced that five other sites are now in development in Canterbury, Salisbury, Harrogate, Norwich and Cheltenham.

Further new sites which are going through legals will be announced in the near future and several bakeries including Gunwharf Quays, Gloucester Quays, Bath, York, Newquay, and Clark’s Village in Street have been refurbished and re-opened under the company’s new brand.  All of this is being achieved alongside the company’s award of ‘OUTSTANDING’ in the recently announced UK Best Companies to Work For survey.

Even before it opened, the Truro Cornish Bakery was driving significant attention and comment from the local population, and the location has surpassed all expectations in its first couple of months of trading. The first Cornwall-based Cornish bakery for a number of years has amassed an impressive net promoter score (NPS) of 71.1 percent.

The bakery company has invested significantly with local artists with products from artisan makers and creators in the near vicinity, many of which are now being designed into the future locations.  The Truro bakery sports lights from Falmouth-based Tom Raffield, Perranarworthal-based Studio Haran and West Cornwall-based Lin Lovekin.  Tiles are handmade and painted by Decorum Studio in Wadebridge and artworks are by Ella Carty who has her studio at Krowji in Redruth.

Founder Steve Grocutt says, “Truro has been incredible. We have found the right location in Cornwall’s capital city, however trading here has already far exceeded our wildest expectations. Alongside positive comments the bakery’s look and feel, we’re gaining glowing 5 star reviews and consistent NPS scores.”

Steve continues, “We’re now well into the process for our upcoming openings in some of UK’s most prominent market towns and cities including Canterbury, Salisbury, Harrogate, Norwich and Cheltenham.  Bakery is most definitely the new coffee shop, and we’re continuing to bring our unique experience, and our top-flight customer service, to places and spaces all over the country.”
