CBRE Investment Management has announced that Maven Leisure LTD will be opening Northwood at Angel Central, as it continues its expansion across London. Angel’s first purpose-built sports pub and kitchen will have 12 UHD screens, showing the best sporting action from around the world.

Set to open in September, Northwood will cover 3,600 sq ft on Angel Central’s first floor, sitting adjacent to indoor crazy golf experience Birdies, and elevating the destination’s dining and leisure offer, which includes anchor tenants Vue and the O2 Academy music venue.

As part of Maven Leisure & ETM Group’s portfolio of over 15 elegant dining venues and sports pubs and kitchens across the capital, Northwood will be their first foray into North London. It will add state-of-the-art video and audio tech to Angel Central’s visitors for the best live sport viewing experiences, including giant UHD screens, as well as professional and friendly service, great food, and drink. The food is inspired by classic sports bar options, including a range of snacks, hearty mains, burgers, and stone-baked pizzas. The new space will have 176 covers, designed in-house by the ETM Group.

Ed Martin, CEO of ETM Group & Maven Leisure, London, commented: “We’re really excited about opening Northwood, Islington’s first dedicated Sports Bar. The area has been on our radar for quite some time now as it’s a borough full of bustling young professionals and families, which suits the demographic for our premium sports pubs and kitchens. The space at Angel Central will ensure we’re front and centre with a range of visitors come day or night. We are looking forward to opening the doors in early September in time for the Rugby World Cup and bringing our premium dining and sports experience to the local community; sports fans, families, and the like.”

Louisa Butters, Head of Retail Asset Management UK at CBRE Investment Management, also said: “The signing of Northwood marks a significant moment for Angel Central, further enhancing the scheme’s day-to-night appeal and complementing the existing leisure and F&B operators we have on the first floor. Since the refurbishment, our aim has been to deliver an enriched visitor experience. Building on ETM Group’s ever-popular portfolio of locations across the capital, Northwood fits seamlessly with our vision for the scheme, cementing our position as a prime retail and leisure destination in Islington.”

The signing of Northwood follows reporting of the destination’s strong performance over the last 12 months, with both footfall and sales exceeding 2019 figures.
