Toolstation is hosting a series of supplier days across the UK this summer. It means that customers and tradespeople can attend and learn more about the latest products, ask questions and learn all important skills.
The supplier days will be held at 52 stores across the country, from June until September. The stores have partnered with a number of DIY and smart home technology brands including the likes of DEWALT, Google, Einhall, Milwaukee and Tado. The participating brands will be dispensing advice, giving away free products, offering goodie bags and running competitions.
All customers need to do is head to their nearest store and visit the participating supplier stands or ask colleagues at Toolstation’s counter.
The initiative has been put in place as research shows that many households have found it difficult to carry out many DIY tasks.
Toolstation’s research has shown that 44 percent of tradespeople have been called in to carry out repairs to faulty work in the last 12 months. 41 percent of tradespeople have been called out to fix repairs to leaks, 35 percent have been asked to carry out repairs to doors, 33 percent have carried out repairs to a botched smart technology installation, while 27 percent have tried to fix a faulty painting and decorating job.
Some of those polled have admitted to carrying out more dangerous and complex work too. 52 percent have tried to install sockets or switches – while attempting electrical improvements yourself might seem a great way to save money, building requirements require that notifiable work is carried should only be completed by professionals and fully qualified electricians. 34 percent have tried to plumb in a bathroom – while many skilled DIYers can carry out wet plumbing, electric and mixer shower fitting brings in extra complexity and should be left to a professional to link with central heating . 8 percent have attempted to fit a new kitchen including a gas oven – fitting a gas hob or oven and central heating should always be carried out by a Gas-Safe registered engineer.
Jon Dunning, Head of Trade Sales at Toolstation said: “The support of our suppliers to put on these events will be a fantastic opportunity for both our colleagues and local customers to learn more about product ranges, learn more about how to do jobs and learn important skills.
“We can’t wait to welcome the local community to visit our stores and experience expert advice for themselves.”
